Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature is delighted to be working with its Partner City, Krakow City of Literature, to introduce the first Lord Provost’s International Residency.

If you’re a writer based in Krakow, we want to hear from you. We’re looking for a writer who would like to spend four weeks of November in Edinburgh, to develop their own creative practice in the beautiful surroundings of the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature.
The main thing we want the writer to do is…write! We’ll give them space to create and be inspired, but they will also be invited to meet some of our key organisations, and help promote the literary links between our two cities.

As part of the residency package, supported by the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, the writer will be staying at The Place Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. They will be offered accommodation in one of the literary suites, with space to relax and create.
We are also working in partnership with the Institute of Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh, who are offering a Community Fellowship to the selected writer. This means office space and full access to the university libraries and many of the resources available in an institution which first opened its gates to students in 1583, and has since been home to some of Europe’s finest thinkers and writers.
